The goal of the Environmental Studies Interdisciplinary Unit (ESIU) is to promote existing environmental coursework and programs at Buffalo State, as well as work on developing new and innovative programs that meet the needs of our students.

Starting in Fall 2021, the ESIU will be offering a new certificate in Environmental Science and Society. Click on the Certificate Program tab to learn more about this exciting new program. 

In addition to the certificate, Buffalo State offers two environmental minors and two graduate programs - click on the Programs tab to learn more about these programs. Environmentally-oriented Bachelor's degrees can be pursued through programs in BiologyChemistryEarth ScienceEnvironmental GeographyGeologyPhilosophy, and Sociology

All of Buffalo State's environmental programs recognize the fundamental interconnectedness of human communities and the coexisting ecological and environmental systems. The goal of these is programs is to provide a background in natural and social science while training students to be effective advocates for social change who will participate knowledgeably in the diverse enterprises necessary to develop sustainable solutions to local and global problems.
